Strengthening the sustainable building movement

For over 15 years PBC has been promoting the passive house standard and green building in general. We know that in order to accelerate to a low carbon world the sustainable building movement must continue to adapt to new information and new climate realities. At PBC we do not endorse a single passive house standard and we are always excited to promote innovation within other standards.

In 2021 we started a new initiative - participating in original research. Passive Buildings Canada partnered with Builders for Climate Action on the world's first study of GHG emissions from residential building materials, using as built-buildings as the research set. This was the “EMBARC” study (see below). This research was supported by The Atmospheric Fund.
