Who lowers prices these days? PBC does. New $25 membership.

PBC is pleased to announce that starting today an annual Individual membership for Passive Building Canada is $25. We are eliminating the student/senior membership (was $50) and giving a $75 reduction in cost for the individual (and small business) membership. We consider “small business” in this context to be 1-4 employees.

Not a member? It’s  a simple, quick process, with no sign in or account creation needed. Just click the button:

Our new $25 annual membership fee is intended to greatly reduce financial obstacles to joining PBC and supporting the sustainable building movement.

Even better, a PBC membership comes with a new perk. Starting in 2025 we will be charging an admission fee for our High Performance Design Meets Boots on the Ground events at some locations but members will always get in free.

We have made changes to the perk of a “Find a Pro” listing. Most “Find a Pro” listings are larger companies and we have removed the perk from the $25 membership. However individuals and small business can obtain this perk for $200 per year total. Regular Business members continue to receive this perk.

Our Business membership cost has increased, the first increase since our founding in 2010, despite significant inflation and increases to our costs. It is now $350 a year. However, with this increase we have also increased the number of guaranteed tickets Business members can have for our “Boots on the Ground” events from three to five.

Membership matters

Since 2010 Passive Building Canada has been supporting and promoting the sustainable building community. From day one people and organizations across Canada have been supporting PBC through memberships. Without our members we simply couldn’t exist.

We also know that there are a lot of other organizations that depend on memberships and people in the green building community to support them. We hope that this 75% reduction in membership costs will help us grow and most importantly broaden our membership.

At PBC we host a passive house peer support email list; we bring together industry trades and experts through our in-person and virtual events, we were part of the ground breaking EMBARC study, and our youtube and social media reach thousands of members of the public.

Passive Buildings Canada shares passive house knowledge and experience to assist Canadians in reducing building energy consumption and carbon emissions with Canadian solutions. We value open, honest, and respectful discourses informed by rigorous, practical building science and seek to connect with other organizations across Canada to strengthen the low-energy building movement. We have only part-time staff and are largely a volunteer run organisation by better building and passive house enthusiasts for better building and passive house enthusiasts.
